There are two articles that clearly show how powerful social media can be. According to Rainie (2012), in the article, “Politics on Social Networking Sites”, it showed statistics of people being politically active on Facebook by liking or commenting on others posts. The mere act of liking a comment or writing an original comment shows that people are actively participating in the political arena while using social media to read other's opinions. Similarly, in the article “Social Media and Voting,” there is information that says “20% of registered voters have encouraged others to vote by posting on a social networking site such as Facebook or Twitter”(Rainie, 2012). I was very surprised to find this information. While I knew that social media can be very powerful, I was shocked how impacting it really can be on people. Recently in the 2012 Presidential Election, many people voiced their opinions about the candidates through Twitter, Facebook, and other websites.
